Neopost Shipping, a subsidiary of the Neopost Group, develops and provides solutions for managing shipments and deliveries and tracking flows of assets and goods.

These solutions are intended both for supply chain professionals: carriers, postal organisations and logisticians, and for companies that use logistics processes: manufacturers, distributors, e-merchants etc.

Neopost Shipping was established in 1999 and specialises in barcode, RFID, scanning and EDI data acquisition technologies, offering a powerful combination of business expertise and capture technology applied to transport/logistics/supply chain processes.


Reporting to the Systems Architect Manager this role is responsible for analysing, documenting and proposing solutions for large and/or complex business areas for customers. The business systems analyst will prepare technical documentation, impact assessments, interface control documents and functional specifications relating to online shipping systems, platforms and interfaces. They be required to be involved throughout the software delivery lifecycle with the customer from pre-sales, technical support, development support, test support as well as being available in a post-sales capacity where necessary.


  • Capture customer business requirements
  • Analyse client systems and business processes
  • Writing of project impact assessments
  • Collecting, understanding, and transmitting the business requirements for the project, and translating these into functional specifications
  • Identifying options for potential solutions and assessing them for both technical and business suitability
  • Creating logical and innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Design specific technical solutions for modified or replacement customer systems
  • Present functional specifications to clients
  • Document workflows and results of business analysis and obtain sign-off from client on specifications
  • Work closely with developers and interested parties to ensure technical compatibility and user satisfaction
  • Provide the link between the customer, development team and any third party regarding software functionality, throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Write functional acceptance criteria for a project based on the functional specification
  • Analyse and evaluate business processes and recommends improvements and efficiency gains to meet targets.
  • Develops, plans manages and implements improvement projects information
  • Prepares and initiates action to take advantage of potential business opportunities.
  • Interaction with Project Management team
  • Strong ability to work with both internal and external clients
  • Support the development team during the writing and execution of test scripts to ensure compatibility across both functional and non functional areas




Technical Document Writing:
o Demonstrable evidence of analysing and documenting complex business processes.
o Demonstrable experience writing Requirements Specifications for Information Systems.

Degree or Equivalent Qualification on Points:
o Under graduate qualification or equivalent
o 2 A-Levels or equivalent


Software/Internet Design Experience:
o A proven track record in Software Development & Internet based applications
o SDLC: End to end experience of the project life cycle


Communication Skills:
o Proven experience interacting directly with end users & customers
o Results orientated with good communication and interpersonal skills

Software Knowledge:
o Advanced level use of Microsoft Office suite of applications: e.g. Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint and Project
o Graphical Packages for capturing and editing screen-shots of systems and images

Personal Organisation:
o Must be able to manage own time and work priorities




Industry Specific Degree or post graduate qualification:
o Computer Science Degree
o IT under graduate qualification


o Supply Chain, Freight Logistics, Mail or Parcel Carrier Industry experience

Presentation skills:
o Experience of presenting to end clients


User Training:
o Demonstrable experience of the production of technical training manuals or guides
o Experience in the provision of end or power user training


Web Design:
o Demonstrable experience of graphical user interface design for the web
o Experience of web and accessibility standards


Service/Project Management:
o Experience of PRINCE2 methodology (for example PRINCE 2 foundation level)
o Experience of ITIL (Foundation level)


o Experience in web service implementation using XML and messaging applications
o Experience in the design and authoring of the following XML Documents required for developing Web Services: XML Schema (XSD), Web Service Description Language (WSDL)


Software tools:
o Microsoft Visio Pro (UML/2) or equivalent
o Rational Rose (UML/2) or equivalent
o Enterprise Architect Software Package or equivalent


ICE-Scrum (Acceptance Tests) or equivalent

JIRA / AGILE or equivalent
